Some of the most popular curtains today are cream curtains. Why? Because they are so versatile, they suit a wide range of color schemes and can match easily with various wallpapers, paint and floor coverings.

Cream curtains have a very elegant look about them and depending on what type of curtain fabric they are made from can make a very bold statement when you walk into a room.

With the right accessories, such as in this picture they can be a real feature which would be a great talking point for anyone visiting your home.

One of the few problems that could arise from having cream curtains would be the need to keep them fairly clean. Dirty marks would show up on a cream colored fabric a lot more than on a darker color.

The type of fabric your curtains are made from will give cream curtains various different looks. The curtains pictured above are made from a heavy material and have been fully lined. But if you were to choose a light cotton fabric for example, your curtains would look completely different.

Another thing to be aware of if you're thinking of buying cream colored curtains is that they don't block out as much light as a dark colored curtain. So they would not be suitable for a room where you don't want to let much light in during the daytime, such as a movie watching room, or a child's bedroom where they sleep during the day.

Here is a beautiful example of some sheer cream curtains. Totally inappropriate for blocking out light, but they look spectacular! They are used almost like a net curtain, to keep people from look in and keeping insects out, but they are so much nicer than plain old net curtains could ever be.

So remember these simple tips when curtain shopping:

1. Decide if cream colored curtains are appropriate for the room
2. Are the curtains going to be in a place that could get easily dirty?
3. What kind of "look" are you going for?
4. Do you want a heavy or light fabric?
5. Do the curtains need to be lined?
